STRUCTURE OF BOARD

Legislation

The board of trustees of the Native Land Trust Board comprises the President of the Republic of Fiji as president, the Minister for Fijian Affairs as chairman, five members appointed by the Great Council of Chiefs, three Fijian members appointed by the Fijian Affairs Board from a list of nominees submitted by provincial councils to the Fijian Affairs Board, and not more than two members of any race, appointed by the President. The current members of the Board are as follows:

Ratu Josefa Iloilo – President of Fiji

Ratu Josefa Iloilo is president of the Board of Trustees of the Native Land Trust Board by virtue of his position as President of Fiji.

Ratu Iloilo is the Tui Vuda and is paramount chief of Vuda on the northwest coast of Viti Levu. He was Vice President of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma between 1997 and 1998. Ratu Iloilo is a former teacher, civil administrator, provincial administrator, Member of Parliament and president of the Senate.



1. Ratu Timoci Vesikula

Ratu Timoci Vesikula is a chief of Verata on the eastern coast of Viti Levu. He is a land valuer. Ratu Timoci is a former Cabinet Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.




2. Ratu Tu’uakitau Cokanauto

Ratu Tu’akitau Cokanauto is a leading chief in Bau. He is a civil administrator and is currently the Minister for Local Government and Environment.
